TRMPAC Document of the Day

Rumor has it that the long-awaited decision by Senior Retired State District Judge Joe Hart on the TRMPAC civil suit could come sometime this week. So it seemed fitting to make the first document of the week one that concerned Rep. Joe Crabb (R-Atascocita).

Last session Crabb had the unenviable task of heading the Redistricting Committee. In a way, I suppose, it was an honor. After all, it seems clear that congressional redistricting was the primary reason Tom DeLay created and pushed TRMPAC. And it's not every day that one gets to carry water for the U.S. House Majority Leader. Still, by the end of the process--thanks in no small part to Rep. Richard Raymond (D-Laredo)--Crabb had a permanent sourpuss and a bad case of foot-in-mouth disease.

Who could forget: "There are only two people I know of on the committee that speak Spanish. The rest of us would have a very difficult time if we were out in an area–other than Austin or other English-speaking areas–to be able to have committee hearings or to be able to converse with people that did not speak English." –- Rep. Joe Crabb (R-Atascocita) answering a question by Rep. Richard Raymond (D-Laredo) about whether he intended to hold redistricting hearings around the state.

This is a document from when it was all just beginning...
